Unit for Equality and Differences

To support the work of all university governance bodies on gender issues, the Unit for Equality and Differences (UED) is one of the first administrative structures to have been established within Italian universities.

The UED is a structure with the following functions:

  • providing technical and scientific support, organisational coordination, consultancy, and the development of institutional relations for all individuals and governing bodies within the University working in the field of gender policies, and in particular for the Single Guarantee Committee, the Rector’s Delegate for “Gender Studies and Equal Opportunities”, and the Pisa inter-university helpdesk against gender-based violence;
  • monitoring the implementation of strategic action guidelines for gender equality, the fight against discrimination, and organisational well-being, in collaboration with the relevant governing bodies;
  • supporting the development of innovative tools for the full advancement of a culture of equal opportunities;
  • supporting monitoring activities related to the Positive Action Plan (PAP) and the Gender Equality Plan (GEP), in order to assess positive actions and strategic guidelines, also in connection with the Gender Budget;
  • supporting the development of recommendations, analysis of processes, updating of action plans, and ensuring continuous communication flow between governing bodies, institutional figures, and involved teams;
  • providing organisational and communication support for events, initiatives, and projects at national and international level on gender-related topics.
